Kenya Special Five Classic

Day 1 Arrival Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport located in Nairobi capital and the largest city of Kenya, you will be met by our Wild fig ventures representative and transferred to the hotel. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight at the Tamarind tree hotel. (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 2 Depart Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Depart Nairobi early in the morning, drive to one of the unique reserves in Kenya, The Samburu National Reserve is a rugged and semi-desert park. The game reserve is renowned for its rare species of animals (the special five) unique to the park, namely: the long-necked gerenuk, Maasai Ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa oryx. Other Kenyan wildlife present in the park includes cheetahs and lions, as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos. Bird life is as plentiful as wildlife at Samburu National Reserve, which boasts over 350 different species of birds including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches and others. Upon arrival check in and enjoy a delicious lunch followed by an afternoon game drive to have a look at the magnificent scenery and game rarely seen in other parks and reserves in Kenya.

Day 3 Samburu National Reserve to Pejeta Conservancy

 

Day 2 Nairobi to Nakuru Lake Nakuru National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Have a short city tour enroute of Nairobi and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is known for its thousands of flamingos nestling along the shores with a wide ecological diversity, varied wildlife habitats, plants and animal species. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon enjoy your first game drive in the acacia woodlands that act as shelter to herds of graceful impalas, waterbucks and bushbucks. Carnivores include the lions and leopards with other wildlife species include the spotted hyena, serval cats, genet and mongoose. giraffe, buffalos and zebras are also present. Later in the evening return to your camp for dinner. Overnight Sarova Lion hill lodge (Full Board).

Day 3 Lake Nakuru National Park to Maasai Mara Reserve

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge. Depart with a game drive enroute and drive to the famous Maasai Mara reserve a preserved savannah wilderness along the Tanzania border. Famous for exceptional wildlife, especially the wildlife migration between July and October and its high concentration of the Big five animals Lions, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. Arrive in time for lunch. Rest of the afternoon at Leisure. Later in the evening have an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara – (Full Board).

Day 4 Full day Maasai Mara Reserve

A full day’s safari in one of the world’s most famous reserves. Offering an abundance of herbivores, the Mara makes the ideal hunting ground for Kenya’s famous ‘big cats’ and hosts her largest population of lions. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara is famous for the large herds of elephant and buffalo that wander its plains, and for the annual migration of the wildebeest (seasonal). Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Mara – (Full Board).

Day 5 Departure

After breakfast at the camp, bid farewell to the Maasai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot on the way. Keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the escarpment. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the early afternoon where you will drive to a local restaurant for lunch on own arrangement and later be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your departure flight back home.
